The other day, I was out thrift shopping and found this awesome white-and-gold dress. I really, really wanted to buy it but it just didn't look good against my pale, honky flesh. "This dress would be perfect if I was a black woman," I thought to myself.

So I guess when I flipped my monitor to portrait and wanted to draw something pin-uppy to take advantage of that shape, that's what came falling out.

(High-res copy here if you want to use it for a portrait monitor backdrop, like I am.)

I would really love to find a printer who can make a limited edition of this with the yellow-white replaced by an actual gold ink. That'd be pretty keen, I think. Sadly [info]tugrik tells me his Awesome Printer Of Doom, while pretty awesome, can't handle this. although maybe if I laser-cut a stencil to match and hand-applied the gold? i don't know, physical processes are not my field.

The other option would be to get it printed and CAREFULLY gold-leaf the gold bits. Leaf is particular, just as Ursula....

I wonder how labor-intensive that'd be at a size big enough to make me happy. Probably enough to make me only want to do one. But maybe worth it!

I tried some gold leaf stuff awhile back. Let me tell you; it's a real pain in the ass. Little bits get everywhere and it's really hard to get the edges clean. Also, you'd lose what shadowing you have here. Stencils, too are tricky, though not as much as leaf. Also, depending on what kind of paper you printed on, the paint or glue for the leaf might not stick. Don't mean to be a downer on this, just thought I'd offer some past experience. I think the image itself is way keen, especially the texture in the background.
