Peace, truce. Compromise. Rest after struggle.

Print available on Artspots.

After a long and exhausting weekend, I managed to get one done. I'm a little behind schedule - but I have the 4 of Wands sitting on my screen at about 75% done; most of what's left on that one is fiddly bits.

I didn't intend for the one on the right to have her foot up the other one's dress in my original sketch. It just kinda worked out that way. Also the swords are cut and pasted from the 9 and 10 because, well, I've drawn enough swords at this point that I feel I can get away with that.

*absconds with the girl on the right* ^____^;;;

I'd call you something like a "dirty elf-fucker", except, well, I'd slither into bed with most of the girls I've drawn in this deck, too...

Admittedly, I'm pretty much an elf addict. :D And draenei addict but that's too WoW-specific. So...well...succubus addict then? ;D

Something that keeps striking me with this deck is that I'm REALLY not used to any novel/card deck/comic set where the point is the story/tarot/action AND most of the figures are women. It's really striking to see a sort of normalised 'women as standins for the everyman in symbols'. It also really brings into sharp relief that this almost never happens.

I'm not really doing this consciously, either. It's mostly happening because, well, I like to draw women a lot more than I like to draw men. I've thought about the gender issues of this deck in the past and wondered if I should be including more guys - but most of these things are so full of men that mine will add some balance. I think there's even a "Gay Tarot" out there that has drag queens in all the feminine roles.

I'm not trying to make this an aggressively "feminist" deck, as some have done. It's just, well, full of women.

Hate to poke at this since you've already done so much work on it, but would the composition work if the black and white swords switched owners?

Love the shadow telling stories in the background. What was before or what will again? Dunno, doesn't matter. It's a nice bit. :"D
