I had a few things to say about the nuclear war aspect of this version when I posted the sketch. They still fit. What I didn't mention is that as it evolved into this cross-section, I realized it was paying a bit of tribute to David Macaulay's books on massive architectural entities - "Cathedral", "City", "Pyramid", "Underground", and several others were full of meticulous pen-and-ink renderings of cutaways that went deep underground.
Also, I am falling behind. I had this one almost done yesterday and slept on the issue of the wands; it was behind then, too. I need to get several good roughs for the courts out, and do some of them quickly...
