major arcana #5: The High Priest

I am too caught up in being happy that I'm DONE to write a few lines of text about this guy. Look it up yourself. *grin*

I still have the six-or-ten extra cards to do - but I can do those on a much more slackful schedule. Right now all I want to do is send the high-res bitmap off to [info]tugrik for printing (edit: which I have done now), and CELEBRATE. I'm only one week over my self-imposed deadline of 'have all the art done by the end of July', which is pretty fucking awesome for a project that was spread out over ten months of my life.

I'M DONE!

Woot! Wish I was up there (wish you were here too; we're having a barbecue...)

Mmm, meat. I am probably going to end up ordering a meaty pizza, and washing it down with the booze I bought while i was out after posting this. Celebration!

Congratulations!

Seeing this project take shape over this last year has been amazing.

Bravo! Bravo!

Thanks!

Now comes the tedious parts: framing, and selling it to publisher. The hard work's done. The bonus cards will be fun, not pushing a deadline...

I like this one better than I thought I was going to based on the pencil sketches for it. This looks great, the colors work wonderfully.

Also, congrats congrats congrats on finishing the deck!

The pencil sketch was very much the seed that this grew from rather than the plan. I needed to do a lot of improvising in Illustrator, which was good, as the whole 'covered in writing' thing only happened there - and that really ties it to the theme wonderfully.

Thanks!

Congratulations! You win an Awesome-O-Saurus.

Yay! Someone to play with the psychedelic t-rex and stegosaurus plishies we got!

Gratz!

Also, that totally reminds me of a character I played in City of Heroes. ^.^

Also also, next project! *CRACKS THE WHIP!* Absinthe?

Also also also, today's captcha words are There and Linley.

Yes on Absinthe - after a VACATION.

Excellent!

Alas, the one you uploaded was the low-rez jpg. :) Can you upload the .TIF for the MA-5 card please?

Also, do you have the poser-banner text in a high rez format? (the green central piece)

Oops! Fixed. The Finder is sitting there with an unbounded progress bar saying it's 'closing the file' as I type this.

I'll get together the banner text and some same-as-pip-size copies of the Courts tomorrow.

When I'm working again, a very large print of this is on a shortlist of purchases I need to make.

Mazel Toves! Calloo Callay!

Quick consistency check: Have you used the same kind of numerals in the corners of all the Majors?

Not on the copies that're online. The ones that are being printed all use Cerulea for the corner numbers and CeruleaNarot for the big numbers - and I did indeed make sure to go through and check!

And there was much rejoicing!

Congratulations!

Thanks!

Now on to the next project. After a vacation.

Glancing through LJ again and seeing "I'm Done" marquee flashing. I giggled. You must be very happy, too. Look what you've done. You're contaminating me with YOUR happiness. This stuff isn't native to my body. How'd it get here in the first place.

Hoses hooked to unmentionable places, probably! *grin*

Most awesome, squared! Congratulations. It's been inspirational, watching this project take shape. :)

Huzzah and conga rodents and so on! Tried to post earlier, but my internets wouldn't talk to the CAPTCHA server, and let me post.

Sorry about that! I'm thinking I might turn it off; it's generating more overall annoyance than the occasional spam comment does.

Just popping in to say: Congratulations!

What a great card to end the deck with! This is one of your strongest yet. When is the show anyway? I really want to see this deck in all its glory.

Thanks!

The show's August 29th, here.

Hey there. You, my dear, are made of awesome. And meat. But mostly awesome.

Thanks! I mostly think of myself as being made of artistic self-criticism, but YMMV.

Yay!

This is definitely an occasion that calls for marquee and blink tags. :)

Not many occasions do, but the end of a ten-month effort justifies them.

I think.

Awesome! Congratulations Peg!!
There is nothing quite like finishing a huge life-eating project. Especially when you learn what it is like to have gigs of free space again, mentally and physically.
Wow.
Well done.

Yeah. Over the past year I built up this little loop in my brain that fires off every now and then, saying "What's the next thing I need to do on my Tarot deck to keep to schedule?" and now the answer is "...pretty much nothing".

I mean, I gotta run out and get the materials together for the framing, but that's something I can easily take care of in one bike trip. I still gotta do the extra cards but those can be done at my leisure, with other things interspersed. I haven't drawn anything else since April. Allll this stuff about the cards can just swap out.

Congratulations!!

I can't wait, cos I think I may buy a huge print of all the cards. No clue where I'll put it, or even if you'll make but.. yeah.

Good luck at the show. Wish I was in Boston!

Yeah, we're definitely gonna make a limited run of posters of this sucker. Maybe even in two sizes.

Thanks!

Awesome! I kind of want one if you're selling a set. So pretty <3

I'm "done" but I'm not done: one of the next steps is to throw this thing at a few publishers that do Tarot decks (I don't want to hassle with printing and distribution myself!) and see if it sticks.

Congratulations! Enjoy your well deserved partying and relaxation.

Congratusuperlativations - they're all great-looking pieces of art in their own right, but as a collection… stupendous!

Thanks! I keep looking at the whole set now that it's Done, and going "geeze, did I do all that? really?" It's been this huge thing that I really haven't felt in some way I feel I should.

I have to say this is one of my favorites of the deck. Well done all around! What started as a distraction from other things has become it's own great big thing! It's a good feeling, isn't it, to be able to look at something huge you've done, completed? It'll be even cooler at the show and then again when you hold an actual deck in your hands. Much coolness!

Thanks!

Except I don't seem to be able to stop working on it until it's allll in the can: every extra done, the show framed, and nothing more to do. It's not out of my life yet, as it turns out!

Still, it's pretty good to know that I've gotten to the point where sane people would stop!

And I may be holding a prototype deck before I go to bed tomorrow...
