Yesterday, [info]doctorpinkerton put out the call: the person who was doing the poster for his next gig had flaked, and he needed one now. Since I've finished my show, I volunteered. This was done direct in Illustrator for speed. It felt really good to draw something that wasn't another Tarot card!

Clockwork Elvis is the opening act; they do Elvis songs while dressed up like Alex and his droogs.

Also, the Tarot posters came a day early - I guess this is FedEx apologizing for the stress over the reprints? I dunno. I need to open them up and cut them apart, but first I wanna finish dying my hair!

Pretty impressive. How long did that take?

About six hours, including an Illustrator crash when I started fooling with the 3D effect for the text. Luckily I'd saved soon before that.

Sounds horrorshow to viddy, o my brothers!

The Consortium's lectures are always horrorshow!

Any chance he needs a stupid-huge banner of it for the show? :)

Addict! *grin*

I will make sure he knows you're making an offer.

Wow, thanks for the offer Tug! If you do that, I'll be sure to DVD the show for you as well!!! (guess I really should as it's the 100th show and all...)

I like the sneer... probably you've seen the pictures of "Army Elvis while stationed in Europe and partying with beautiful girls with rotten teeth" thing?

Actually I'm a little more intrigued that you're listening to one of the ProjeKt things... I sort of drifted away from King Crimson during that period, so while I have a copy of "The ConstruKtion of Light" I never heard any of the side "ProjeKt" things. How is that stuff? Should I bother? I'm much more of a Tom Waits fan these days, probably a side effect of getting old.

The album I was listening to (The Deception of the Thrush) was a kind of compilation of the ProjeKct stuff - a few tracks from each of 'em, and other KC side projects. It's pretty much the standard King Crimson stuff, without Belew's bizarre lyrics. I picked up P2's "Space Groove" album which mostly feels like a few KC types getting together and just kinda jamming for a while - fairly easy stuff for KC improvisation, at least compared to the difficult territory of the 'solos we did during live performances of THRAK' compilation I got a while back!

To a certain degree, each KC album is much like the last one - excepting of course the very different first one. The ProjeKct sampler really feels like 'Crim-ish stuff we did that didn't quite gell into an official Crimson album'. If I had better cashflow and the urge to buy more music, I'd probably grab some more of the Projeckt stuff.

I have just found my new favorite band for the week.

Fuck yeah! Love love love rock posters. :D
